Footpaths and Rights of Way
Have you been stopped from using your favourite path by a broken stile or electric fence? encountered an angry bull on a walk? been forced to turn back due to water logging, over-growth, or a missing bridge?
Almost a third of public footpaths are obstructed. In many cases they are being deliberately, and illegally, blocked by landowners. We campaign to keep paths open and properly maintained.
The Ramblers' Association campaigns to open all public rights of way in England and Wales and to ensure that the existing rights of way network is protected, as part of our national heritage, and is available for everyone to use.
If you want to report a path problem you have come across while walking in Flintshire, you have two choices, you can report the problem to Flintshire County Council Public Rights of Way, Telephone 01352704612 or alternatively go onto the Ramblers' national website for more detailed information about footpath issues and fill in their footpath report form. http://www.ramblers.org.uk/campaigns/footpaths.html
Responsibility for the rights of way network in England and Wales lies with the relevant highway authority - county council, unitary authority, metropolitan borough, London borough, or national park authority (by agreement). The Ramblers' Association works to ensure that these authorities are fulfilling their rights of way duties and defending the rights of the public.
